ジャマイカ産ピメントはジャマイカ政府のピメント公社(Pimento Board)が加工し、品質を管理・輸出を担っています。ピメントから抽出されたオイルはダメージヘアのトリートメントやスキンケアなどにも利用されています。
Jamaican pimento is considered to be the best of all pimento growing regions of the world. The native Jamaican variety, is high in oil content – a key characteristics of high quality pimento allspice.
Pimento allspice contains the characteristic flavour and aroma of clove, nutmeg, cinnamon and pepper. This makes it a very versatile spice and is used in a wide variety of cuisines, pastries & liqueurs.
The pimento is also has huge medicinal value. The central highlands of Jamaica is the largest producers of pimentos. The prime reaping season is from July to October. The berries are sun dried for 8 days.
Jamaican pimento is highly sought after. Most of it is processed and exported by the Pimento Board – the Jamaican regulatory agency. They ensure that only the highest quality berries are exported.
